LUMBER JACK CONTEST
Paul Bunyan is coming to town! At least it will seem that way when the SAWA Pro Lumberjack Series, presented by Stihl®, comes to Big Lick Festival Park on AUGUST 12,2006. You’ll know these guys when you see them. They’ll be the ones carrying six pound razor sharp axes, six foot long crosscut saws and 250 cc motor bike engines disguised as chainsaws. With a number of events throughout the day, the lumberjacks will chop and saw their way through a truckload of logs in no time flat. The chopping events are handicapped, but even so the eventual winner will need to chop through a 12” hardwood log in under a minute, and possibly under 30 seconds, to have a chance at the blue ribbon! And that’s nothing compared to the sawing events. Using super-modified chainsaws, some of which are built from motorcycle engines, they can make three cuts through those logs in under 10 seconds… and that includes starting the saw! Featuring many of the same events and competitors as the “Stihl TimberSports Series ®” on ESPN, the SAWA Pro Lumberjack Series also includes Regional, Collegiate and Junior competitors using an Australian style handicapping system for added excitement. So if you’re looking for a great day of entertainment, come on out and catch the action as these modern day Paul Bunyans smash through some logs!
